There are many mediums I enjoy working with, but time and again I return to the allure of splashing a page with water, and manipulating watercolor pigments to flow throughout the subsequent pond on paper. It is an enchanting give-and-take process. The paint will sometimes take charge, and other times my hand maneuvering the paint brush will take the lead. I work with this spontaneity and concentration concurrently in watercolors to convey the feminine experience. I paint women, their bodies communing with nature, to express integration with the world around them and to convey their spirit within. Our creations, our bodies and our emotions are all part of a lattice that also embraces the sun, meadows, trees, water, and leaves. My own experience of pain, courage, joy, and inner struggle deeply affects the women I paint. I am inspired by the ever-unfolding mind and power of her. She is beautiful in a way that goes beyond the exterior. Her spirit is warm, rich and textured. It is giving and loving and at the same time vastly strong as it continues to grow throughout humanity. Her spirit transpires through a paintbrush to create these works.
